“Winning the Mike Sadler Award at Kohl’s meant more to me than words can possibly describe. Mike epitomized what it meant to be a student athlete. Obviously everybody knows about his marveling work in the classroom and his incredible play on the football field; however, why Mike is the ultimate example of a student athlete is because of his ability to care for others, teach others, and listen to others. He never talked about himself, disregarded one’s opinion, or left anyone behind on his journey.

As evident with the Sadler Foundation, Mike’s legacy lives through so many people every single day. Winning the first annual Mike Sadler Award for me was the most honorable achievement I could possibly receive. Lastly, it showed me that through hard work, happiness and a constant loving support system, you must trust the journey that you are on. I am hopeful that one day my journey could end with me being half the man that Mike was.”
