Mike Sadler Legacy Football Scholarship
Jake Hartbarger is the 2017, 2018 and 2019 recipient of the Mike Sadler Legacy Football Scholarship at MSU. He completed his bachelor’s degree in hospitality business and will finish his master’s degree in Marketing Research in December of 2019. Jake represents himself, his family and MSU with the highest level of character and integrity. He was Mike’s close friend and teammate. Jake continues to keep Mike’s legacy strong and is very active in the Michael Sadler Foundation.
CAREER NOTES: Ray Guy Award candidate received a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA for the 2019 season . . . entered 2018 in his fourth year as the starting punter, but suffered a lower leg injury in the fourth quarter at Arizona State on Sept. 8 and missed the rest of the season . . . ranks seventh on MSU’s career average yards per punt list (42.1 ypp) . . . also ranks 10th in MSU history in both punting yards (7,833) and punts (186) . . . has 38 punts of 50-plus yards . . . has placed 71 of 186 career punts (.382) inside the 20 and 37 inside the 10 (.201) . . . has five punts of 60+ yards for career (60 vs. Nebraska, 11/7/15; 61 vs. Iowa, 12/5/15 and 61 vs. Northwestern, 10/15/16, 62 vs. Indiana, 10/21/17 and career-long 74 vs. Arizona State, 9/8/18) . . . four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. Jake’s parents are Toby and Wendi Hartbarger.
